One person nailed it in our AI Animal Survey. When asked, “If you could give AI one superpower for hiring, what would it be?”. They didn’t say speed or automation.

They said:

“Provide deep insights for every aspect of the recruitment process to improve hiring outcomes.”

That one hit me hard. Because let’s be honest: hiring teams don’t need more dashboards. They need clarity. They need AI superpowers that show them exactly what’s going wrong, so they can fix it before it turns into a mess.

What’s the Real AI Superpower?

ai superpowers

Every recruiter I know has had that moment when a hire falls apart or a pipeline dries up, and they’re left scrambling through spreadsheets, ghosted follow-ups, and outdated job descriptions trying to figure out why.

That’s the job to be done. Not just faster processes. Not just automation. The job is diagnosis. Clarity. Insight.

And that’s exactly what this survey respondent put into words: if AI could give us deep, across-the-board visibility into every hiring step, that would be the real superpower.

We’re Drowning in Data, Not Insight

Most recruiting teams are sitting on a mountain of information. Time-to-fill, click-through rates, DEI metrics, JD conversion stats—you name it.

But turning that into action? That’s still a human job. And it’s a hard one.

AI superpowers for hiring should be less about writing more job descriptions (although that’s helpful!) and more about helping us understand what’s working…and what’s not.

Imagine This: AI That Diagnoses, Not Just Automates

Picture this. You’re filling a technical role that’s been open for 60+ days. You ask your AI tool what’s going wrong, and here’s what it tells you:

  • The JD is 20% longer than your top-performing posts and has 6 other red flags.
  • 50% of applicants are dropping off after reading the first paragraph.
  • Your top-qualified candidates are withdrawing after the first interview due to a 9-day delay in feedback.

That’s insight. That’s an AI superpower I’d want in my corner.

Let’s Make “Hiring Insight Analyst” a Real Role

We’ve created all kinds of new roles in talent over the last few years—employer branding leads, DEI strategists, candidate experience managers. Here’s my pitch for the next one: Hiring Insight Analyst.

It’s not just about reporting numbers. It’s about interpreting them. It’s about spotting patterns, flagging bias, identifying drop-off points, and giving your team a clear picture of where to improve.

AI does the heavy lifting. Humans make the calls.

That’s why this one short survey response stuck with me. It was a reminder that the future of AI in hiring isn’t just flash and automation. It’s thoughtful, strategic, and clear-eyed. It’s human + machine. And it starts with questions like: “If you could give AI one superpower for hiring, what would it be?”
